HIGH SCHOOL FAIR @ Hillside High School-Saturday, January 21, 2012
Prospective parents and students are invited and encouraged to attend the annual DPS High School Fair from 2pm to 5pm at Hillside High School. Southern School of Engineering (SSOE) faculty members will be available to answer questions and share examples of student projects created at SSOE.
EOC Information Night
Food will be served!
Parents and Students: If you have a student enrolled in English I, Algebra I, or Biology, you are invited and encouraged to please attend our EOC Information Night on Monday, January 9, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We will begin our General Session in the cafeteria at 6:00 p.m.
January 2012 EOC/Exam and VOCATS Schedule
Friday, January 13: 7:30 a.m. 1st pd Exams
Tuesday, January 17: 7:30 a.m. 2nd pd Exams
Students are dismissed from school at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday -Thursday.
Exam Remediation: 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday. Buses will transport students home at 2:30 p.m. Specific students are required to stay for remediation.
Wednesday, January 18: 7:30 a.m. 3rd pd Exams
Thursday, January 19: 7:30 a.m. 4th pd Exams
Friday, January 20: 7:30 a.m. Make ups and Retests
Students must report to school during the week of exams, or they will be marked absent from school.
Prepare for the ACT and PLAN Test
All 10th Graders will take the PLAN test on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Please bring two #2 pencils and a scientific graphing calculator. The PLAN is similar to the PSAT, and will provide students with the opportunity to begin preparing for the ACT as well as provide additional diagnostic tools for students and teachers.
ACT Practice-ALL 11th Graders
North Carolina will begin administering the ACT to all 11th graders in March 2012. The ACT will be used by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as one measure used to evaluate high schools and the performance of our teachers and students.

We have completed one 9 weeks of school already, and we are gearing up for our exams. Our National Honor Society provides tutoring from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. in room 110, every Tuesday and Thursday. Individual teachers also offer tutoring after school. We encourage our students to take advantage of all additional assistance. Thank you all for supporting our students and our mission. Bus Stop Information (Where
Bus)
What bus is my child supposed to ride and where is he/she supposed to
catch the bus?
Please visit the school your child is assigned to attend in order to receive bus stop information. Bus stop information is generally available at open houses held before school starts. If you have not requested transportation for your child, please be sure to sign up by visiting your childs' school prior to August 11 to ensure the best possibility of having an assigned bus stop on the first day of school.
Transportation Services is open from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.- call 560-BUSS (2877)
Transportation Services staff are available Monday through Friday, during regularly scheduled school days. The schedule may be modified to accommodate summer schedules, holidays, year-round schools, or other times that all schools are not in operation.
